ZADAR, July 14 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa and
his associates on Tuesday visited the construction site of the Sv.
Rok (St Roch) tunnel, on the southern slope of Mt. Velebit.
Mt. Velebit sprawls along the northern Adriatic coast.
Representatives of the Split-based company Konstruktor informed
the Prime Minister that they had dug 1,529m deep into the tunnel
from its southern end and another 900m from its northern end.
This is about half the total length of the tunnel (5,661m).
Matesa then opened a newly-built pensioners' home in Zemunik near
Zadar (central Adriatic).
The Labour and Social Welfare Ministry invested about US$1.4
million into the construction of the home with the International
Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent participating with
US$200,000.
