ZAGREB, July 9 (Hina) - The International Criminal Tribunal for
Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) will announce its verdict in the
Furundzija case on Wednesday, July 15, an ICTY statement said
Thursday.
The Bosnian Croat Anto Furundzija, was commander of a special
Croatian Defence Council (HVO) unit called "Jokers" during the war
in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Furundzija's charges include torture and outrages upon personal
dignity including rape.
On 15 July the ICTY will not only announce its decision on whether
Furundzija is guilty or not but - in case the defendant is found
guilty - determine the sentence.
The trial of Anto Furundzija lasted from 8 to 22 June this year.
