ZAGREB, June 29 (Hina) - The President of the Council of Europe
Parliamentary Assembly Leni Fischer arrived in Zagreb for a four-
day official visit to Croatia on Monday.
Upon arrival, Fischer was received by the Croatian National
Parliament President Vlatko Pavletic.
During the day, Fischer will meet Croatian President Franjo
Tudjman, Foreign Minister Mate Granic, Vice Premier and European
Integration Minister Ljerka Mintas-Hodak and members of committees
for foreign affairs and interparliamentary cooperation as well as
members of the Croatian delegation in the Council of Europe
Parliamentary Assembly.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Fischer will visit Vukovar and
Dubrovnik.
On the last day of her visit, Fischer will meet the House of Counties
President Katica Ivanisevic and hold a speech "Democratic
Stability in Europe" in the European House in Zagreb.
The main topics of these meetings will be relations between the
Council of Europe and Croatia.
The visit of the Parliamentary Assembly President is not part of the
monitoring process which includes Croatia, a statement from the
Council of Europe said.
However, the statement added that Fischer was interested in the
latest information on the human rights situation in Croatia,
refugee return, cooperation with the International Criminal
Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and implementation of the
Dayton Peace Accords.
