RECONSTRUCTED CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUILDING OPENED IN VUKOVAR

( Editorial: --> 7545 ) VUKOVAR, May 29 (Hina) - The reconstructed building of the Vukovar- Srijem County Chamber of Commerce was opened on Friday at the Vukovar's central square. Opening the building, president of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce Nadan Vidosevic said this was the first office building in Vukovar to be reconstructed by the Croatian Government and it is one of 10 Baroque palaces in the city centre. Talking about the difficult economic circumstances in the Croatian Danube River region, County Prefect Rudolf Koeing said 6,100 workers are employed on that territory, but 30,000 were employed before the war. Koenig said that from the territory of the Croatian Danube River region 400 companies are registered with the Commercial Court in Osijek, of which 91 have commenced operations. Vidosevic presented gold plaques to the most successful County businesspeople of 1997.
