SAKIC EXTRADITION POSTPONED

( Editorial: --> 5377 ) BUENOS AIRES, May 20 (Hina) - Argentina rejected the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia's request for the extradition of Dinko Sakic and because of that his extradition to Croatia has been postponed until legal issues are formally resolved, said Argentinean Foreign Ministry spokesman Jorge Raventos in Buenos Aires on Wednesday. Sakic was the commander of Jasenovac, a concentration camp in World War Two Croatia. The same information was also confirmed by Croatia's Ambassador to Argentina Neda Rosandic-Saric. Argentina's Foreign Ministry has prepared an official note which rejects the extradition request of the FRY because Croatia's request has been positively resolved, Raventos told Hina. He explained that the note should be signed by the foreign minister, justice minister and Argentinean president. The Foreign Minister Guido di Tella has already signed it but the other two signatures are missing, said Raventos. After that Belgrade authorities will be officially informed of the decision, said Raventos, adding that only after that will the extradition of Dinko Sakic to Croatia be possible. The Croatian Embassy in Buenos Aires, according to Rosandic-Saric, has not yet received the official decision about the extradition which President Carlos Menem signed last Friday.
