TUZLA, April 27 (Hina) - The International Police Task Force
spokesman in Tuzla, Andrea Angeli, confirmed on Monday that five
Serb civilians were wounded on Sunday when two hand grenades were
thrown at them in the village of Svjetlece near Doboj.
A mixed Bosnian-Serb village before the war, Svjetlece was placed
in the Bosnian Serb entity under the Dayton Agreement. The Bosniak
(Muslim) refugees have recently started returning to the village on
their own.
The IPTF assumes that the incident may have been a Muslim response
to Serb protests against their return.
According to Angeli, it is not yet known who threw the bombs at the
Serb civilians. The case is being investigated by Bosnian Serb
police.
Immediately after the Svjetlece incidents, about 50 Muslim
refugees and as many Serbs used rocks and timber to block a tunnel at
the very entrance to Doboj. The Muslims blocked one entrance to the
tunnel and the Serbs the other.
Muslim-Croat Federation and Serb entity police, as well as the IPTF
and SFOR flocked to the scene of the incident, trying to restore
traffic.
According to Angeli, occasional bursts of rifle fire were heard in
the area on Sunday night but nobody was hurt.
