BUGOJNO, April 26 (Hina) - The department for democratisation with
the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)
Mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Association of Independent
Intellectuals "Krug 99" from Sarajevo organised a three-day round
table discussion entitled "Is There A Chance For Democracy in
Bosnia-Herzegovina?" in Bugojno, central Bosnia.
All participants in the discussion supported the idea of a
multiethnic, civil state in which all citizens would have equal
rights and duties, regardless of their national, religious,
political or cultural background.
Democracy is being threatened by continual manipulation of
citizens and misuse of authority, as shown by the latest incidents
in Derventa, Drvar, Stolac and other towns, it was said during the
discussion.
The event was also attended by the Serb Intellectual Forum from
Banja Luka, the Citizens' Forum from Tuzla, the Association for
Legal Aid "Sjeverna Hercegovina" from Konjic, the Congress Council
of Bosniak Intellectuals from Sarajevo, the Eco-group from Zenica,
the Serb Civic Council, the Democratic Initiative of Sarajevo
Serbs, the Association "Dobojlija" from Doboj, etc.
