ZAGREB, April 17 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament House of
Representatives on Friday ended its discussion on the Government
Report on the Implementation of the Programme of Two-Way Return in
regard to requirements of the international community.
At the end of the discussion, which involved more than 20 MPs,
Assistant Reconstruction and Development Minister Stjepan Sterc
and head of the Government Office for Displaced People and
Refugees, Lovre Pejkovic, submitted their reports.
MPs confirmed the right to return to Croatia but opposed requests
for a large-scale and immediate return.
They also requested the commencement of a process of return of
refugees to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Yugoslavia, as well as
financial assistance from the international community.
Heads of party benches should meet on Tuesday in order to agree on
the texts of two resolutions whose adoption was initiated by the
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) bench.
These are a resolution on Croatia's international position and a
resolution on a comprehensive programme of return, which would
commit Croatia to drawing up such a programme.
A vote on the two resolutions should take place on Wednesday.
