MOSTAR, Apr 3 (Hina) - Three Bosniak (Muslim) houses have been
burned in Stolac Municipality, south-western Bosnia-Herzegovina,
but no one has been injured, United Nations spokeswoman for
southern BH Kelly Moore said Friday.
Two houses were burned in Stolac and one in the nearby village of
Potlacici, Moore said, adding the arson took place in the night
between Wednesday and Thursday.
Seventeen mostly Muslim houses have been either demolished or
burned in the Stolac area since March 26, Moore said, emphasising
these houses were intended for the accommodation of returnees.
We took these incidents in Stolac very seriously, the UN
spokeswoman said. She expects local police to prevent such
occurrences and arrest the perpetrators.
Moore assessed as unbelievable that police were unable to find the
perpetrators in such a small town as Stolac.
She expects that a mixed police will patrol all villages in the
municipality intended for the return of displaced persons.
