BRCKO RAVNE, March 16 (Hina) - Following the latest postponement of
a final decision on the status of the north-eastern Bosnian town of
Brcko, the head of the Ravne Brcko municipality, Mijo Anic, on
Sunday expressed disappointment with the fact that Brcko did not
become a neutral zone, which was one of the expected options of the
Croat side.
"We all wanted to learn the final solution on the status of Brcko
today. The international community has found a solution which is
not the best but suits it most," said Anic.
Anic described as positive the fact that the whole of the former
municipality of Brcko was mentioned for the first time as subject to
arbitration, as well as the readiness of all sides to cooperate.
"So far, there has not been such a definition. It is important not
only because of the return, but because of economy and traffic and
all other segments of life in this area," said Anic.
Ivan Krndelj, deputy head of the multiethnic administration in
Brcko, said that the future period should be used for return.
"It is a fact that the international community has given Republika
Srpska a new chance, but I believe that they will not be able to
fulfil all the obligations. I hope Croats will get their own chance
too," said Krndelj.
