GALE FORCE WINDS IN DALMATIA OVERTURN TWO TRUCKS

( Editorial: --> 8526 ) ZADAR, March 10 (Hina) - Gale force winds which have been blowing from Monday on the Croatian Adriatic coast overturned two trucks on Tuesday at 1.00pm on the bridge across the Maslenicka Strait. The Maslenicki Bridge has been closed to traffic because of the gale force winds. Drivers who travel along the Adriatic Highway should be cautious. Ferry services between the mainland and Dalmatian islands have been stopped because of the winds while cars can only use the bridge connecting the mainland to the island of and Pag. The gale force winds were blowing at 90 km/h on Tuesday with blows up to 170 km/h. In the metereological station in the Dalmatian town of Makarska a blow of 187 km/h was recorded on Monday night and on Tuesday morning the temperature on the Biokovo mountain range behind Makarska dropped to under minus 10°C.
