ZAGREB, March 6 (Hina) - Croatia has done a lot to move closer to
European standards, it has significantly higher average income per
person and significantly lower rate of inflation than countries
included into the first phase of joining the European Union,
Dietrich Wolf of the Bayerische Landesbank Managing Board said in
Zagreb Thursday night.
Wolf, who is also the chairman of the Croatian-Bavarian Society,
told Thursday's convention that Croatia met all preconditions for
joining the EU, and it was a question of time when this would take
place.
I am certain Croatia will become a member of the EU and the European
economy and monetary union, Wolf stressed.
He added there were already some positive signals from European
countries, especially Germany, which were supporting Croatia's
accession into the EU.
A specific political signal, according to Wolf, is Croatia's soon
to be admission into the PHARE Programme.
