VUKOVAR, Feb 24 (Hina) - According to data from the Regional Office
for Displaced Persons, to date 1,125 families, that is 3,245 people
have returned to the Vukovar-Srijem County.
The most number of families have returned to Ceric, 236, followed by
Ilok 158, Nijemci 124, Apsevci 82, Bapska 25, Borovo Naselje 18,
Lipovac 156, Donje Novo Selo 86, Tovarnik 14 and Vukovar 86, with a
few families returning to other places.
In the Croatian Danube River region from 2 to 20 February, employees
of the Regional Office visited 2,590 displaced families in the
Vukovar-Srijem County.
They did not find 1,530 displaced families at registered
addresses.
The census shows that 337 families (31.79 per cent) want to return
to their homes, 534 families (50.37 per cent) have decided to sell
their property and leave Croatia, 106 families (10 per cent) want to
remain in the Croatian Danube region and 83 families (7.83 per cent)
are undecided.
The census of displaced persons was completed in most places in this
county. It is still being conducted in Ilok, Stari Jankovci,
Negoslavci and Mirkovci.
