VUKOVAR, Feb 12 (Hina) - The authorities of Vukovar, eastern
Croatia, Thursday hoisted a 40-metre-long flag onto the town's
water-tower, a symbol of the Serb aggression on Croatia.
The flag is a gift from the Association of Croatian Defenders of
Vukovar 91.
The flag was hoisted on the 55-metre-high water-tower on Najparica
Hill which dominates over the town and the nearby Dunav river by
Vukovar defenders Marinko Antunovic Bosanac, Andjelko Burilo Zec
and Ante Deru.
The flag is 40 metres long and six-and-a-half metres wide. It was
made during the Storm liberation operation in the summer of 1995 on
the initiative of Vukovar associations of Homeland War victims.
Present at today's hoisting were the vice president of the National
Committee for the restoration of trust, Ivica Vrkic, Assistant
Interior Minister Josko Moric, the president of the Government's
commission for detained and missing persons, Ivan Grujic, Vukovar
mayor Vladimir Stengl, the president of the Association of Croatian
Defenders of Vukovar 91, Marko Babic, representatives of Vukovar
associations of Homeland War victims, and the superior of the
town's St. Philip and Jakob monastery, Branimir Kosec.
