VIENNA, Jan 21 (Hina) - As part of the Croatian Economy Week which is
to take place in Vienna from 25 January, the "Croatian Economy Day"
took place on Wednesday.
The conference, numbering over 200 Austrian and Croatian
participants, was opened by the president of the Austrian Chamber
of Commerce, Leopold Madethaner.
Madethaner stressed that both countries were interested in
promoting every form of economic cooperation in which they enjoyed
the support of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
Madethaner said this conference had been organised for the
promotion of Croatian exports into Austria, which increased by 16
per cent last year, which, he hoped, would increase even ore.
Croatian Deputy Economy Minister Jasna Boric and representatives
of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, Croatian Reconstruction and
Development Bank and Croatian Post spoke about the situation in
Croatian economy and its development, the process of privatisation
and restructure, as well as the Croatian banking system.
Talks between representatives of Croatian and Austrian companies
about investment opportunities and the promotion of business
cooperation are to continue of Wednesday afternoon and on Thursday
at the Austrian Chamber of Commerce in Vienna.
