More information on efforts in breathing life into and restoring
ship-building in Croatia to its pre-war records will come to light
in Split on September 8 at the signing of a letter of intention on
the construction of 10 ships for Rijeka's shipping company
Jadrolinija.
Fizulic recently announced that Jadrolinija would be building 11
ships in Croatian shipyards within the following two to three
years, including seven ferries and four speed ships.
The total value of these vessels is about US$100 million, and the
construction of two of them could commence this month, Fizulic
said.
During a recent visit to Rijeka and following talks with
Jadrolinija and shipyard officials, Fizulic announced Croatia
should begin production on commercial ships of greater value, some
US$500 million per ship.
The building of such vessels activates an entire line of domestic
branches of the economy, small and middle-scale companies to
participate in the domestic production.
Fizulic has been frequently heard as saying that the ship was
Croatia's primary and recognisable product with high chances on
foreign markets.
