ZAGREB, Aug 7 (Hina) - The Croatian passenger ship 'Dea', which was
held up on Saturday by the Yugoslav Navy (JRM) near Herceg Novi,
should this afternoon sail into the Montenegrin port Bijela, where
it will be overhauled, the Croatian Foreign Ministry reported on
Monday.
"According to our information, at 11 am on Monday all formalities
regarding the clearance of the ship were carried out and the 'Dea'
should sail into the overhaul port Bijela during this afternoon,"
the Ministry said.
The Yugoslav Navy held up the Croatian ship on August 5 near Herceg
Novi. The ship, which was on its way to the port Bijela, where it is
to be overhauled, had all the necessary police and customs papers
and its passage had been announced timely, the Ministry said.
According to the Ministry, the JRM has acted illegally by stopping
and inspecting the ship, which is not within its jurisdiction but in
the jurisdiction of police and customs services. Nothing illegal
was discovered during the inspection of the ship. A stow-away of
Moroccan nationality was on board the ship but he had been
registered with police authorities.
Croatia's consul general to Kotor, Petar Poljanic, has been
contacting competent Montenegrin authorities as well as the
Croatian Foreign Ministry. According to Poljanic, the conduct of
the Montenegrin police was very fair and they did everything
possible so that the ship could reach its destination as soon as
possible. Poljanic yesterday visited the ship's crew.
