ZAGREB, May 31 (Hina) - One hundred and three inmates of the Lepoglava penitentiary centre, including 34 convicted Croatian Homeland War soldiers, have been on a hunger strike since Tuesday, Justice, Administration and Local
Self-Government Ministry said Wednesday. The inmates are protesting because of the small number of amnestied veterans on Independence Day (May 30). The prisoners claim they will continue striking until Justice Minister Stjepan Ivanisevic or his deputy "or somebody in authority from the Office of the President" visits them. They also expressed wish that reporters attend the meeting. The Justice Ministry announced Minister Ivanisevic, Homeland War Soldiers' Minister Ivica Pancic and a representative of the Office of the President would "most probably" visit the inmates on Thursday afternoon.(hina) lml mm
