RIJEKA, March 26 (Hina) - The fourth operation of American
equipment and technical resources rotation for the Stabilisation
Force (SFOR) in Bosnia-Herzegovina via the Rijeka harbour and the
Krk airport was completed Sunday.
Operation commander Lieutenant Colonel Michael Colldwel on Sunday
handed out letters of gratitude and commendations to members of
local authorities in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the town of
Rijeka, representatives of the Croatian army, Interior Ministry,
Military Police, Rijeka Harbour, Rijeka airport, Croatian Railways
and other subjects taking part in the action.
The operation of military equipment rotation, which was carried out
by the United States army national guard 49th armour division,
lasted two months and involved the substitution of about a thousand
vehicles and material and technical equipment containers which had
been transported by ships.
The entire operation was carried out at the highest professional
but also friendship level of cooperation, US army officials said.
Head of the Croatian Government's Office for Cooperation with SFOR,
Tomislav Vidosevic, stressed every event such as the equipment
rotation was of special significance for Croatia as it represents a
step on the way to realising a strategic goal -- Croatia's accession
into the Partnership for Peace Programme and NATO.
Every operation similar to this one is another proof that the
Croatian Armed Forces were ready for these processes, Vidosevic
said.
Military Police commander Major General Mate Lausic expressed
satisfaction that Croatian military police officers in cooperating
with American military police had the opportunity to gain new
knowledge.
