Serbia to request Paravinja's handover, giving priority to graver crime in extradition

Autor: mses
BELGRADE, June 29 (Hina) - Serbian Justice Ministry stated on Wednesday that it would forward by next Monday a request to Bosnia and Herzegovina for Dragan Paravinja's extradition, reiterating that Belgrade would agree on the extradition of this convicted rapist to a country where he is charged with graver crimes.

Interpol Sarajevo informed Belgrade on Tuesday that Paravinja was arrested on 26 June on a warrant issued by a court in the eastern Bosnian municipality of Sokolac.

Paravinja is wanted in Croatia on suspicion that he recently killed the 17-year-old girl Antonija Bilic trying to cover up an attempted rape. He can face the minimum prison sentence of 10 years in Croatia. In the meantime an investigation was launched against him for another attempted rape in Dalmatia.

In 2002 Serbia sentenced him to four years and six months for rape and attempted rape. Since then he has been beyond reach of Serbia's judiciary.
