Croatian President Ivo Josipovic will receive the pontiff on Saturday and on that occasion he will present with a replica of organ pipes built in the northern Croatian town of Lepoglava when Pauline Fathers were active there. Those organ pipes still exist in a church in Lepoglava.
During a reception in the Apostolic Nunciature on Saturday, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor will give the pontiff a crucifix made by sculptor Damir Matausic and a replica of the Evangeliary from the 11th century.
On Sunday, the Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, will present the pope with a personalised gift - a fountain pen, as reported by papa.hr. On the occasion of his visit to the Residence of the Archbishop in Zagreb, the Holy Father will write an entry in the guest book with one of two identical personalised Penkala fountain pens, one of which will remain as a memento at the Residence of the Archbishop and the other special Penkala fountain pen, an original Croatian product, will be given to the Pope as a personal gift.
This present with this special Penkala fountain pen includes a commemorative case in the colors of the Vatican flag. It was fashioned by hand in the traditional manner and has a lifetime guarantee, noted the manufacturer, TOZ Penkala d.d. Zagreb. The case is covered in white leather and embossed in gold with the inscription: BENEDICTUS PP. XVI in Latin script and Croatian Glagolitic script. The inside of the case is lined in yellow silk and has a small plaque engraved with the date and place of the visit, together with a personal message from Cardinal Bozanic to the Holy Father: Scribere ausus est. (s. Augustinus) – To Write is to Dare (St. Augustine).
