Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina gets new statute envisaging one president

Autor: mses
SARAJEVO, May 26 (Hina) - Members of the assembly of the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (NSBiH) on Thursday unanimously adopted a new statute, meeting conditions for lifting a suspension on the NSBiH membership of FIFA and UEFA and on national soccer teams' participation in international contests.

The new statute stipulates that the NSBiH will have one president with a four-year term instead of the current three-member presidency.

On 1 April, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended the membership of the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which meant that the country's national team and clubs would not be able to play international matches until further notice.

The suspension came after the Bosnian football federation's General Assembly failed to adopt changes to its statute in line with FIFA and UEFA's recommendations, which asked, among other things, that the country's football federation no longer have a three-member presidency.

The changes were requested back in November last year, with FIFA and UEFA saying that they had requested the national federation to amend its statute according to their minimum requirements.

The Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina expects the lifting of suspension on 1 June.
