Eleven out of 33 lighthouses on the Croatian coast and islands have
been remodelled into 20 high-category apartments with 170 beds. The
lighthouses Sveti Petar, Savudrija, Cape Zub, Sveti Ivan na pucini,
Porer, Veli Rat, Prisnjak, Susac, Palagruza, Struga and Sveti
Andrija have become the standard bearers of Croatia's lighthouse
tourism.
The lighthouses are very well preserved stone buildings
constructed during the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, mostly in the
19th century, reads an article in the Matica magazine.
Lighthouse tourism has become this year's hit, with most visitors
coming from within the country, Germany, Slovenia, France, Hungary
and the Czech Republic.
