ZAGREB, April 20 (Hina) - NATO's enlargement is morally and
strategically justified and we advocate its expansion as fast as
possible on as many countries-candidates as possible when they are
ready to enter the North Atlantic Alliance, said Bruce Jackson, the

on NATO".
Jackson came in Zagreb where he delivered a lecture on Friday
evening. His visit was organised by the Croatian Atlantic Council.
He presented the material which his association used while lobbying
for NATO's enlargement at the US Congress and Senate.
Our plans are to ensure the regional stability in southeastern
Europe, with footholds in Hungary, which is a NATO member-country,
and in Romania and Bulgaria which are candidates for the
membership, Jackson said.
We hope that Zagreb will soon join in with its application for the
membership in NATO, he added.
The American said Croatia's stand on the admission into NATO had
been unclear in the recent years.
The problem was that we did not know what Croatia wanted as it did
not express clearly itself... and we hope we shall have its
application very soon, Jackson explained.
The US Committee on NATO is an NGO which includes some important and
influential U.S. politicians and experts both from the ranks of
Democrats and Republicans who advocate the comprehensive and fast
enlargement of the Alliance.
The committee exerted significant impact in NATO's enlargement on
Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic in 1999.
