The purpose of the alliance is to fight for the position and rights
of the Croat minority in Italy and for more funds than the current
100 million lire the Molise Croats receive annually from the
Italian government, the head of the Rome Croat community, Luka
Krilic, said. According to Krilic, 60,000 Croats live in Italy, of
whom 20,000 have been granted permanent residence permits.
Speaking about cooperation with the Italian national minority in
Croatia, the head of the Trieste Croat community, Damir Murkovic,
said they had not received any concrete help from Croatian MP and
chairman of the parliament's Committee on National Minorities and
Human Rights, Furio Radin.
