Croatia has been informed of the visa abolishment by an official
note which read that the revocation took effect on 25 March 2001,
the Croatian foreign ministry stated on Thursday.
Island is looking forward to the signing of the re-admission
agreement on the transfer and acceptance of persons whose stay is
illegal and to the notification of the revocation of visas for
Icelandic citizens in the near future.
On the same day (25 March) Denmark and Norway rescinded visas for
the Croatian nationals. Of other Scandinavian countries, Sweden
annulled the visa regime on 1 February 2001, and Finland on 1 March
2001.
The foreign ministry welcomed the decision of Reykjavik, which
confirmed the improvement of relations between Zagreb and this
group of northern European countries.
