ZAGREB, March 5 (Hina) - Croatia and Slovenia are both investing
efforts in entering the NATO and the European Union, and there is no
alternative to this, Slovene Defence Minister Anton Grizold said in
Zagreb Monday during talks with the charwoman of the Croatian
parliament's committee for internal affairs and national security,
Djurdja Adlesic.
According to the parliament's public relations office, Grizold
stressed small countries must have rational security systems, and
relayed Slovenia's intention to offer new projects to Europe, with
the cooperation of neighbouring countries.
"The first country with which talks are being held on the matter is
Croatia," he said, adding small countries should join forces and
submit motions to the NATO jointly.
As Croatia and Slovenia share the same military heritage, Grizold
offered cooperation in the field of military infrastructure, and
expressed hope this could open up other forms of cooperation
between the two countries.
Adlesic agreed with the Slovene minister that Croatia and Slovenia
were small countries which share the same fate.
She asserted Slovenia's experience in Euro-Atlantic associations
could assist Croatia, and expressed hope the two countries would
also establish a parliamentary cooperation in the field of state
security.
Anton Grizold also met Croatia's Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic
during his one-day official visit to Croatia, with whom he
discussed intensifying military cooperation between the two
countries.
