LABIN, Feb 21 (Hina) - The leader of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), Vesna Pusic, told reporters in Labin on Wednesday the decision of the Hague tribunal's chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte to let the Croatian judiciary conduct all
proceedings against General Mirko Norac was very significant. According to Pusic, the decision means that the Croatian judiciary is able to process possible crimes, which undoubtedly contributes to the functioning of the law-based state. Pusic believes that the latest events in Croatia have proved that there is a great need for engaging "in what we gullibly thought of as finished," namely, the stabilisation of state institutions, democratic procedures and the legal order in Croatia. Pusic also expressed hope Croatia had the potential to be a civic state, with the dignity of the individual as its main purpose.(hina) rml
