ZAGREB, Feb 18 (Hina) - The European Union's officials admit that
Croatia is faster than other countries in the region, but they
object to the slowness in our fight against white-collar crime and
in the conduct of legislative reforms, said a Croatian MP and a
leader of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), Djurdja
Adlesic, upon her return from Germany and Belgium.
Adlesic, leading a delegation of the HSLS, was on a one-week-long
study tour to Brussels and Berlin, organised by the Friedrich
Naumann Stiftung foundation which has close ties with German
liberals.
"(Officials) in Brussels told us that we were faster than others,
but they criticised our slowness in the fight against economic
crime and in changes of the legislation," she told reporters at the
Zagreb airport.
Adlesic added that the HSLS had held talks with representatives of
the Union's Council of Ministers, the European Commission and the
German Bundestag.
She expressed satisfaction with the meetings in the Bundestag where
German parliamentarians reiterated their support to Croatia's bids
to enter the European Union.
But, Germans criticised Croatia's complicated administrative
procedure which made many foreign investors to abandon their plans
to invest in the country, she added.
