ANKARA, Feb 7 (Hina) - Croatian President Stipe Mesic on Wednesday morning arrived in Turkey in a two-day official visit. This is Mesic's first visit to Turkey since his inauguration. Mesic is the head of a Croatian delegation which
also includes Foreign Minister Tonino Picula, Tourism Minister Pave Zupan-Ruskovic, and European Integration Minister Ivan Jakovcic. Upon the arrival to Turkey, the Croatian delegation is scheduled to met Turkish President Ahmet Nacdet Sezer. Later today, the Croatian President should hold talks with parliament speaker Omer Izgi, Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit and former Turkish President Suleyman Demirel. The meeting between Mesic and Sezer should confirm good political relations between the two countries, promote the strengthening of bilateral political ties and encourage economic cooperation. The officials will tackle the signing of a free trade agreement and cooperation in tourism. According

Today's meeting, however, is not the first meeting between the two
presidents. The Croatian and Turkish presidents met last autumn in
New York on the occasion of marking the 50th anniversary of the
United Nations.
