A 45 percent tax rate on a 21,000 kuna base pay would refer to a net
salary of and over 15,000 kuna (EUR2,030), which would affect the
best, the most creative and the most skilful people in the economy.
According to a HUP poll, the 45 percent tax rate on salaries
exceeding 21,000 kuna would apply to the wages of 35 percent of
managers, 40 percent of finance, marketing, and law experts, and 25
percent of project leaders and technology, informatics and
software experts.
Most of them have postgraduate education and half are under the age
of 40.
The HUP will refer to MPs in order to have the draft of the income tax
bill altered and to avoid penalising the wrong categories of
people.
