The conference, organised by the American Exim bank, was addressed
by the president of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, Nadan
Vidosevic, who spoke about Croatia's macroeconomic policy,
achievements in transition and privatisation, and the country's
business legislation, offering the Chamber's assistance to
American business people investing in Croatia.
Vidosevic stressed that Croatia had signed some thirty free trade
agreements, adding that as a member of NATO's Partnership for Peace
and signatory to the EU's Stabilisation and Association Agreement
it was "a favourable stepping-stone" for doing business with
Central and Eastern Europe, as well as other countries.
American businessmen confirmed their interest in investing into
Croatia's tourism and agriculture, while several participants said
Croatia set an example in the region.
