Spevec said Croatia was a great investor in Poland and called on
Polish companies to turn to Croatia as a potential investment zone,
keeping in mind Croatia's macroeconomic stability and low
inflation rate as well as the lowest profit tax rate in Europe.
She particularly pointed to the possibilities of 12 free zones in
Croatia in which the profit tax rate was significantly lower, as
well as the fact that the European Union implements the zero tax
rate for all products, apart from fish, wine and beef, exported from
and produced in Croatia.
The Polish official also assessed the two countries' economic
cooperation as successful. He said that the overall Croatia-Poland
exchange in 2001 increased by 34 percent reaching US$135 million.
The Polish official said his country was interested in cooperation
in the shipbuilding industry, military industry, environmental
protection and fire-fighting.
The Croatian companies, Pliva and Podravka, which have plants in
Poland, are the proof of high standards of Croatia's food
processing and pharmaceutical industries, the Polish deputy
minister said. He called on Croatian and Polish companies to be more
aggressive in conquering the markets of both countries.
