The bishops, according to a statement issued by the conference's
press office, called on the protesters and responsible persons to
use dialogue in order to reach the acceptable solution to the
problem which has too long lasted and which contributed to the
divisions in the Croatian public.
At their session on Thursday, the Croatian bishops considered a
recent statement given by the Slovenian bishops' "Justitia et Pax"
commission on the Jozko Joras case, and forwarded to their
Slovenian colleagues a response with objective information.
Last Thursday, the Slovene dignitaries issued a statement claiming
that Joras' human rights had been violated while he had been kept in
Croatian prison. They also asserted that excessive measures had
been taken against Joras considering the offences he committed.
Joras was in the meantime released.
