All participants of the conference, at which Croatia has the status
of active observer, assessed that the political situation in the
region was significantly improved, and stressed the importance of
strengthening regional cooperation, the respect for human rights
and the joint fight against organised crime and terrorism.
Ministers and their deputies advocated an accelerated process
which would lead the countries to full membership in the European
Union.
Besides a joint statement, the participants also adopted a report
by the committee of political directors on expanding the process.
They estimated that their work should be continued until the next
meeting which should also take place in Yugoslavia at the end of
this or the beginning of next year.
