During the two-day conference in Zagreb, presented were projects of
changing the Croatian education system. Croatian and foreign
experts shared their views about the issue.
"We invited international experts to further cooperation in
building on our ideas and their realisation," Strugar said. He
added that the conference would place education, science and
knowledge in the limelight in Croatia.
A representative of the Council of Europe, Michaela Chekini, said
that the Council would continue to closely cooperate with Croatia
and work more in implementing the education reform and passing
legislative frameworks.
Reform of the schooling system is a lengthy process, whose fruit can
be picked in several years' time, an official of the Organisation
for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Ian Whitman,
said.
Gerhard Kowar from the Stability Pact's working group for education
and youth said the conference was a great opportunity to present
results and conclusions of experts.
A total of 220 experts and representatives of institutions in
politics and education development, of which 60 were from abroad,
participated in the conference.
The Education and Sports Ministry organised the conference with the
cooperation of the Stability Pact's working group for education and
youth, the OECD and the Council of Europe.
