BELGRADE, April 25 (Hina) - Former Croatian Serb rebels' leader Milan Martic will need 15-20 days to prepare his defence before surrendering to the Hague war crimes tribunal, "perhaps even more," his attorney Strahinja Kastratovic
said on Thursday.

"By surrendering, Martic is sacrificing himself primarily for the
establishment of the real truth about the suffering of the Krajina
population which he led and defended," Kastratovic was quoted by
the Vecernje Novosti daily.
Martic is charged with the May 1999 shelling of Zagreb.
Kastratovic said the recent law Yugoslavia adopted on cooperation
with the Hague tribunal enabled Martic to address the indictment
"which was filed on 25 June 1995 without any investigation,"
something the lawyer said his client had been unable to do "before
courts in either Republika Srpska and or Serbia."
