TOMCIC ACCEPTS HDZ PROPOSAL FOR DIVISION OF SEATS IN PARLIAMENT

ZAGREB, Dec 18 (Hina) - Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) president Zlatko Tomcic has agreed with the proposal of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) that the opposition should chair 13 parliamentary committees, the HDZ 11, and ethnic minorities one.#L# Tomcic assessed the HDZ proposal as very fair after one-hour talks at the HSS offices during which HDZ leaders Ivo Sanader and Vladimir Seks briefed him about their plan of parliament's internal organisation. Tomcic also agreed with the proposal that three parliamentary vice presidents should be from the opposition and two from the HDZ. He announced that the chairmen of all clubs of deputies would meet tomorrow to address in detail the allocation of seats in parliament. "As the current president of parliament and the HSS, Tomcic has shown understanding for the fact that the HDZ should have the majority in every committee for the purpose of normal functioning of parliament," said Seks.
