PRISTINA, Dec 11 (Hina) - Deputies to Kosovo's Assembly on Thursday
declared all Serbian constitutional laws and acts referring to
Kosovo, adopted since 22 March 1989, as null and void. #L#
The motion of the parliamentary committee for judiciary and
legislation was supported by all MPs except for Serb
representatives from the 'Povratak' coalition who said the issue
was within the jurisdiction of the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK)
rather than the Kosovo Assembly.
The request to declare the laws null and void was put forward by the
Kosovo government which claimed that they obstructed the
privatisation process in the province.
"All laws concerning Kosovo, passed by Serbia, were against the
will of the majority people in Kosovo and as such unacceptable,"
said Arsim Bajram, the head of the above-mentioned committee.
The UNMIK has still not responded to the assembly's decision.
