ZAGREB, Dec 9 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Tuesday issued a

the ideals defined in the UN General Declaration on Human Rights and
their realisation. #L#
"The Republic of Croatia, as a young state, wants to contribute, by
developing and becoming more mature, to the realisation of human
rights, both on the local and global levels, and to raising the
dignity of man to the highest possible level," reads the
statement.
"Aware of the need not only to accept, but also to apply the set
standards, we want to integrate the entire society into that
process, along with the bodies of state authority. It is our wish,
in making such efforts, to set a valuable example to the entire
international community through education about human rights, the
promotion of gender equality, the prevention of all forms of
discrimination, the prevention of and fight against people
trafficking, and the protection of children and other sensitive
groups," reads the statement.
Due to the frequent violations of the principles of the General
Declaration, the government calls on all human rights activists to
step up their activities to overcome the gap between the ideals as
outlined in the declaration and their realisation, and to persevere
in their mission.
