"The respect and promotion of international and European human
rights standards is a goal the new Croatian government will be
expected to embrace", Semneby said in the massage marking
International Rights Day, December 10.
Ambassador Semneby said this included upholding human rights in the
areas of the return of refugees and displaced persons, minority
rights, reform of the judiciary, rule of law, freedom of expression
and police reform.
"Human Rights standards are not only related to the Mission's
mandate in Croatia but are also the key for Croatia's EU integration
path," he said.
Ambassador Semneby also announced that a six-month report on issues
covered by the OSCE Mission's mandate would be released next week.
