"It is yet another warning that in view of our intention to join the
European Union we should accept European norms of behaviour and
reach agreements with others, our neighbours and countries with
which we will be in the European Union," Racan told reporters.
The prime minister declined to comment on the contents of Prodi's
letter, saying it was not for him to reveal its details. He just said
that there was nothing new in it in relation to what had been heard
in Brussels.
"We have been previously advised against making any unilateral
moves before the Venice conference," Racan said.
Racan said the government was yet to decide whether it would send a
proposal for the declaration of an economic zone to parliament.
The prime minister said his government was aware that in protecting
Croatia's economic interests through expanding its jurisdiction in
the Adriatic it should take care not to damage its fundamental
interest -- membership of the European Union.
