European Integration Minister Neven Mimica informed MacShane in
London about what the Croatian government was doing with respect to
the fugitive general.
The talks focused on further cooperation in the fulfilling of
commitments from the Stabilisation and Association process.
MacShane said Croatia had made considerable headway towards full
European Union membership. He stressed meeting political criteria
was the principal requirement for the UK parliament to start
ratifying the SAA.
It was said Croatia had made headway in the reform of the judiciary
and the return of refugees and displaced persons.
MacShane applauded President Stjepan Mesic's recent apology in
Belgrade as well as the activities the Croatian government had
undertaken to meet obligations from the SAA.
