During his day-long visit on Wednesday, Mesic spent more than an
hour talking to a delegation of Croats from Vojvodina, who informed
him of their status and problems after democratic changes in Serbia
in 2000. They said that one of their biggest problems was the lack of
funds for the operation of Croatian institutions and
organisations.
Mesic promised to encourage the strengthening of ties between
Croatian government bodies and the Croatian community in Serbia and
Montenegro.
