Talking to reporters in Split, Kontic said Prime Minister Ivica
Racan's letter in connection with a U.N. resolution requesting the
arrest of persons indicted by the Hague war crimes tribunal for the
ex-Yugoslavia, including Croatia's Ante Gotovina, was the
"culmination of political hypocrisy". He added that when chief
prosecutor Carla Del Ponte visited Croatia in April and equated
Gotovina with Bosnian Serbs Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic,
Racan failed to react to the insult.
According to Kontic, Croatia's foreign policy is characterised by
absolute allegiance, futility and deference, "as evidenced by
relations with Slovenia and other neighbouring countries which
have never been worse".
