Mesic informed them of the main points of his talks with Montenegrin
officials earlier today, stressing the importance of cross-border
cooperation, construction of tourism facilities and the importance
of the Croatian community as a bridge of cooperation between the
countries, Vladimir Marvucic of the Croatian Civic Society, who
attended the meeting, told Hina.
The Croatian associations raised problems they were encountering
in their work, including a delay in adopting a law on minorities in
Montenegro, complex and expensive procedure for acquiring
citizenship and passports, the education of children in Croatia,
and the reception of Croatian Radio and Television signals in Boka.
They also requested greater assistance from the Croatian
government in financing their activities in Montenegro.
Mesic promised assistance in intensifying cooperation, saying that
such efforts would help make borders less visible and that in the
end borders would become pointless.
After talks with his Montenegrin counterpart Filip Vujanovic and
Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic in the afternoon, and with the
representatives of Croatian associations, Mesic left for
Dubrovnik.
