Around 1,500 hectares of grass, underbrush, pine and agricultural
areas were consumed by fire at three separate locations on Hvar.
Some 350 fire-fighters with 52 fire engines, four canadairs, a
reconnaisance-naval plane, one helicopter and two Croatian Navy
ships took part in fighting the fires yesterday and today.
About 2,000 hectares of grass, underbrush, pine forests and
agricultural areas were consumed by fire on Brac Island.
Three new fires broke out Monday near the Djale hydro-electric
power plant on the Cetina River and in Zadar and Sibenik counties,
but were contained relatively quickly.
