Mesic said that there were no open issues between Croatia and Israel
and that the legacy of the past no longer burdened bilateral ties.
In addition to this, the two countries have signed many bilateral
agreements.
Katsav described relations between the two countries as friendly
and expressed hope that Israel could be a very good partner of
Croatia.
The chairman of the Croatian Medical Academy and outstanding
gynaecologist, Dr. Asim Kurjak, bestowed on Katsav a diploma naming
him an honorary member of that institution. The Israeli head of
state is the first president to be given these honours.
In 2002, trade between Croatia and Israel totalled slightly less
than 20 million dollars.
