ZAGREB, July 9 (Hina) - The Croatian government will on Thursday discuss a report on the situation in agriculture in 2002, when the output in the national agriculture and food-processing industry totalled 17.55 billion kuna, rising by
885 million kuna as against 2001.

The share of the agricultural and foodstuffs industry in the Gross
Domestic Product rose from 9.79% in 2001 to 9.97 percent last year.
Figures on trade in foodstuffs and agricultural produce show that
2002 saw a record high USD 1.6 billion with imports totalling more
than one billion dollars and exports 579.5 million.
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, trade in
agricultural produce and food came to 622.06 million dollars in the
first four months of this year. The export climbed by 49.4 percent
in comparison to the first four months of 2002, and totalled 249.7
million, while the import rose by 28.2 percent to 372.2 million.
