ZAGREB, May 23 (Hina) - More importance needs to be given on the level of state and local governments to the development of Croatia's rural areas in which more than 50% of the total population lives, said participants in a workshop on
the strategy of Croatia's rural development Friday. The two-day event, which began in Zagreb on Thursday, is organised by the agriculture and forestry ministry and the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

level of state and local governments to the development of
Croatia's rural areas in which more than 50% of the total population
lives, said participants in a workshop on the strategy of Croatia's
rural development Friday. The two-day event, which began in Zagreb
on Thursday, is organised by the agriculture and forestry ministry
and the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). #L#
FAO experts have been entrusted with drafting the strategy which
will contribute to adjusting Croatia's rural development policy to
that of the European Union.
A working version of the strategy will be ready for discussion by
the summer's end.
